Lessons from the Garden: Embracing the Wisdom of the Waiting Season

| Bees on flowers at a market in Pune, India |
I have been spending a lot of time lately reflecting on what it truly means to start over. As many of you following my journey already know, I am currently living here in Pune, India. This chapter of my life is a distinct season of transition a time characterized by quiet observation, cultural adaptation, and, most importantly, the deliberate process of planting deep, new roots.
When you leave behind familiar routines across continents, step away from established corporate structures in the Gulf, and relocate to a brand-new country, your internal momentum often feels out of sync with your physical surroundings.
However, sometimes the most profound life lessons do not come from complex strategy books or intense hustle. Instead, they catch you by surprise in the most unexpected, quiet moments of daily life.
An Unexpected Encounter in a Pune Flower Market
Just today, I was on my way to visit a beautiful, peaceful place of worship in our local neighborhood. Following local traditions, I stopped at a small street-side flower shop along the way to pick up a bundle of fresh blooms as a devotional offering.
As the vendor was carefully selecting the brightest flowers for me, something caught my eye and instantly stopped me in my tracks: the shop was alive with bees.

unbothered by the grand timeline."
There were dozens of them, buzzing energetically from petal to petal right there amidst the bustling market traffic, honking rickshaws, and passing pedestrians.
Instead of grabbing my wrapped bundle and hurrying along to my destination, I ended up standing there on the sidewalk for quite a while, completely mesmerized, just watching them work. It was one of those rare, serene moments where time seems to freeze, forcing you to step out of your head and observe the subtle wisdom of the natural world.
The Natural Laws of the "Waiting Season"

| Nature doesn't rush, yet everything is accomplished |
When you move to a new country and navigate a completely different rhythm of daily life, it is easy to become restless. Your mind constantly whispers that you should be "doing more." You feel an invisible pressure telling you that you ought to be further along in your career, your finances, or your personal goals.
Nature doesn't rush, yet everything is accomplished.
The bees at that roadside flower stall did not look restless or anxious. They were not stressed about what the weather might bring tomorrow. They were not worried about their grand future plans or comparing their speed to other insects. They were entirely anchored in the present moment, intensely focused on the immediate task right in front of them: finding the next flower, gathering the nectar, doing the work, and trusting the natural order of things.

Why This Natural Wisdom Matters for Personal Evolution
I realized that my personal evolution this entire journey of growth, relocation, and documentation that I am sharing with you is governed by the exact same principle.
This current period of my life in Pune is not a dead end, nor is it wasted time where I am merely "waiting" for life to begin again. It is an active, vital stage of my personal expansion. It is the crucial underground phase where the unseen roots take hold.
If a plant attempts to shoot up too quickly before establishing a deep, resilient root system, it will inevitably collapse during the first unexpected storm. I am learning that this current stage of quiet integration is precisely where I need to be right now to ensure I am built strong enough for whatever grand opportunities lie ahead.

Three Principles I Am Choosing to Embrace in This Season
To keep my mindset grounded during this period of transition, I am actively applying three core daily practices:
Trusting the Invisible Timing: Just because you aren't crossing a flashy "finish line" today does not mean you aren't making meaningful progress. The bees were in constant, purposeful motion even though they stayed within the perimeter of a single flower stall. Through daily writing, mindset refinement, and cultural integration, I am moving forward every single day, even if it looks like "waiting" to an outside observer.
Finding Joy in the Immediate: I easily could have snatched my floral offering, paid the vendor, and rushed off to my destination without paying attention. But by stopping to observe, I tapped into a moment of pure gratitude. I am consciously choosing to celebrate the small, daily textures of life in Pune: the aromatic local markets, the fresh morning air, the vibrant street energy, and the quiet moments shared with my wife.
Staying Focused on the "Nectar": What are the daily inputs that actually nourish your soul and help you evolve? For me, it is my writing, my creative discipline, my healthy daily habits, and connecting with this community. I am choosing to invest my limited time and mental energy into these constructive pillars rather than wasting bandwidth stressing over global systems or timeline variables I cannot directly control.
Living with Intention, One Day at a Time
My daily life looks very different now than it did during my years in Dubai, and it is radically different from where my journey began back home in West Africa. Through every step, move, and challenge, I am evolving into someone who deeply understands that human growth is not a desperate sprint—it is an intentional, steady rhythm.
Standing before the quiet, grand entrance of the place of worship after leaving the flower shop, I felt a deep sense of internal alignment. The ancient architecture stood as a silent witness to the exact same truth: beauty, strength, and sacred spaces take time to build, block by block, brick by brick.
The Thriving Takeaway
If you currently find yourself navigating a "waiting season" of your own whether you are adjusting to a new city, recovering from a setback, searching for your next career move, or waiting on legal paperwork I want you to internalize this truth: You are not wasting time.
You are quietly building the internal depth, wisdom, and emotional stamina you will desperately need to sustain your future success. Keep showing up every day. Keep doing the small, unglamorous work. Keep looking for the quiet beauty in your immediate garden.
I am deeply grateful to be standing right here in Pune today, I am grateful for every twist in the path that brought me here, and I am honored to share this evolving story with you.
