I Created This Blog in 2024 and Did Absolutely Nothing With It. Here’s Why

We love to play games with the future. We sit down, look at our current lives, and convince ourselves that tomorrow we will somehow have double the energy. We promise ourselves that next week or next month, a wave of mental clarity will magically wash over us and fix our lack of direction.
We look at our biggest, most meaningful dreams and tell ourselves that next year will finally bring the "perfect opportunity" to start the project close to our hearts.
I know this trap intimately because I fell right into it. I didn't just fall into it for a week, a month, or a quiet season. I stayed stuck in it for two whole years.
Back in 2024, I officially opened this Blogspot account. I had a crystal-clear vision: I wanted to build a digital home called Josh: Thriving & Evolving, a space dedicated to documenting my personal journey, mindset shifts, and the raw reality of starting over. I wanted to build a platform that talked openly about the messy, beautiful process of becoming a better version of yourself every single day.
But instead of writing, I paused. I looked at the empty white dashboard, felt a wave of overwhelm, closed the browser tab, and decided to wait.
I told myself I was waiting for the right moment the ideal environment, perfect alignment of free time, peak mental headspace, and endless creative inspiration.
Flash forward to today, in 2026. Two entire years have quietly slipped through my fingers. The world kept spinning, life kept moving forward, and this digital space sat completely dormant. Not a single post. Not a single word.
Looking back at that empty dashboard, I finally realized a harsh but liberating truth that completely shifted my mindset: There is no perfect time. The only time that actually exists is right now.
The Danger of the Waiting Room
The biggest lie we tell ourselves is that waiting is safe. We convince ourselves that by holding off, we are protecting our ideas, our ego, and our time from potential failure. We whisper excuses like, "I'm not procrastinating; I'm just planning," or "I'm waiting until I have more research."
But let’s be honest: waiting for the "right opportunity" is almost always just fear dressed up in a suit. It is fear disguised as patience.
When we wait for absolute perfection, we miss out on the genuine magic of building something organic from the ground up. Perfectionism does not protect you from making mistakes; it simply prevents you from ever starting at all. The longer you wait for the stars to align, the older you get—and eventually, you wake up to realize that the ideal setup you were dreaming about was just a mirage. It doesn't exist.
If you are waiting until you have:
The absolute perfect morning routine or daily schedule
The most high-end camera, desk setup, or software
Zero inner doubts, zero external noise, and zero daily distractions
...you will literally be waiting forever.
The truth is, life is always going to be a little bit loud. It is always going to be slightly unpredictable. Whether you are adapting to a major international relocation, balancing family responsibilities, or managing everyday work stress, there will always be a convenient excuse to push your goals to next Monday.
Real personal growth never happens in a sterile, perfectly controlled environment. Growth happens in the middle of everyday life. It happens when you are busy, tired, or uncertain, but you choose to take one small, imperfect step anyway.
Shifting Your Mindset from "One Day" to Day One
Unlocking this realization is what brought me back to this keyboard today. I stopped asking myself if the conditions were flawless. Instead, I looked in the mirror and asked a far more powerful question: If not now, when?
When you let go of the fantasy of the "right time," an enormous weight lifts off your shoulders. The intense pressure to produce an immediate masterpiece vanishes. You realize that your first step doesn't need to be incredible—it just needs to exist.
This blog was never meant to be a collection of textbook answers or overly polished essays. It is a space for authentic, real-world experiences. It is about the reality of moving across continents, starting over in new cultures, building fresh habits, and learning to trust your own path—even when the middle chapters feel completely unwritten and confusing.
Life Is Not a Straight Ladder
We often imagine our personal goals as a neat, linear ladder where you climb smoothly from one step to the next. But real life looks a lot more like a giant game of Snakes and Ladders.
One day, you roll a lucky number and land on a ladder that takes you straight to a new high. The next day, you make a mistake or face an unexpected setback, land on a snake, and slide right back down.
If you spend all your time sitting on the sidelines waiting for a guarantee that you won't hit any snakes, you will never even throw the dice. You have to be willing to play the game, accept the bumps along the way, and keep moving forward regardless.
What is Sitting Dormant on Your Dashboard?
We all have something we’ve left sitting on a metaphorical shelf since 2024—or perhaps even longer.
For you, it might not be a blog. It could be:
A difficult or honest conversation you’ve been avoiding
A health or fitness routine you keep promising to start "next week"
A creative project, YouTube channel, or podcast idea sitting in your notes app
A career change, skill course, or lifestyle shift you keep delaying
We tell ourselves we will get to it as soon as life "settles down." But look around: life rarely settles down on its own. The clock keeps ticking whether we are actively pursuing our goals or sitting idle.
The absolute best time to start was two years ago. The second best time? Right now.
4 Practical Strategies to Break the Procrastination Loop
If you’ve been stuck in the waiting room like I was, here is how you break free:
Lower the Bar for Day One: Don't aim for a masterpiece on your first attempt. Focus entirely on execution over perfection.
Commit to Micro-Actions: Break giant goals into tiny, non-threatening steps. Writing 100 words or walking for 10 minutes is infinitely better than doing nothing.
Embrace Public Accountability: Announce your commitment to a friend, family member, or online community. Publicly stating your intent makes it harder to quietly quit.
Detach from Immediate Results: Stop worrying about how many views, likes, or responses you get in the beginning. Focus on building the muscle of consistency first.
The Fresh Start Starts Today
By hitting publish on this article today, I am officially breaking my own two-year cycle of waiting. I am letting go of the need for the perfect setup, the perfect words, or flawless timing. I am choosing to let search engines and readers find this space naturally, post by post, while I focus on simply showing up.
If you are reading this and have been looking for a sign to start that one thing you’ve been putting off—consider this your sign. Stop overthinking every detail. The world doesn't need you to be flawless; it just needs you to begin.
